These are great tips for designing a logo, the correct path. The most important thing IMO is to understand what is the client vision about his company and what message he wants to tell to his potential customers. Understand that, and you’re on your way in building a great logo.

Some good tips and it gives you plenty to think about when creating a design of a logo.

If you over complicate a logo design then the message that you are trying to get across can get lost in the process

5 easy steps and good advice. Keeping a logo specific to its market by looking around at whats already out there is a great place to start.
Not making things more complicated than they need to be is also a really good point. Really useful tips.
